Front outer tie rod end (right/left hand) designed for 1965–1968 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury models. This steering component attaches the steering rack or center link to the steering knuckle, providing precise wheel alignment and reliable steering response. Built to withstand road loads, it prevents excessive play, reduces vibration, and helps maintain proper toe settings for even tire wear. Ideal for classic car restoration or routine suspension maintenance, this replacement part restores steering tightness and improves driving safety and handling.
Features:
  • Fitment: Direct replacement for 1965–1968 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury front outer tie rod end — available for right or left hand orientation.
  • Durable construction using corrosion-resistant materials and hardened ball stud for long service life.
  • Restores precise steering geometry to reduce play and uneven tire wear.
  • Sealed joint design helps retain grease and keep out contaminants for consistent performance.
  • Simple swap-in replacement suitable for restoration projects or routine maintenance.
  • Compatibility with OE-style castle nut and cotter pin attachment for secure fastening.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench
  • Wrenches/sockets (including appropriate size for tie rod nut)
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Pliers (for cotter pin)
  • Torque wrench
  • Marker or measurement tape
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise the vehicle and secure on jack stands. Remove the wheel to access the tie rod end.
  3. Mark the position of the old tie rod end on the threaded inner tie rod or measure the exposed threads to preserve alignment settings.
  4. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the castle nut securing the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
  5. Separate the tie rod end from the knuckle using a tie rod end puller or pickle fork. Avoid damaging surrounding components.
  6. Unscrew the tie rod end from the inner tie rod the same number of turns as measured, keeping the alignment reference.
  7. Install the new tie rod end onto the inner tie rod, matching the original thread engagement or measured marking.
  8. Insert the ball stud into the steering knuckle, install the castle nut, and torque to the vehicle’s specification. Install a new cotter pin.
  9. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to spec.
  10. Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper toe and steering geometry.
