Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle and secure on jack stands. Remove the wheel to access the tie rod end.
- Mark the position of the old tie rod end on the threaded inner tie rod or measure the exposed threads to preserve alignment settings.
- Remove the cotter pin and loosen the castle nut securing the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
- Separate the tie rod end from the knuckle using a tie rod end puller or pickle fork. Avoid damaging surrounding components.
- Unscrew the tie rod end from the inner tie rod the same number of turns as measured, keeping the alignment reference.
- Install the new tie rod end onto the inner tie rod, matching the original thread engagement or measured marking.
- Insert the ball stud into the steering knuckle, install the castle nut, and torque to the vehicle’s specification. Install a new cotter pin.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to spec.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper toe and steering geometry.
