Rear sway bar link designed for 1999-2004 Ford Mustang (GT, V6 and Cobra variants where applicable). This replacement rear right/left sway bar link secures the stabilizer bar to the suspension, helping maintain roll control, improve handling response, and reduce body lean during cornering. Built for longevity and reliable performance, it restores proper sway bar geometry after wear or damage and helps prevent clunking noises and uneven tire wear. The straightforward design provides a direct, durable solution for suspension restoration and routine maintenance.
Features:
- Fits 1999-2004 Ford Mustang — rear sway bar link for right or left side
- Connects the rear anti-roll (sway) bar to the suspension to control body roll
- Durable metal construction with corrosion-resistant coating for long service life
- Replaces worn or damaged links to eliminate clunking and restore handling
- Designed for direct fit — simple bolt-on replacement for restoration or maintenance
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes (both sides)
Instructions:
- Park the vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake, and chock front wheels.
- Loosen rear wheel lug nuts, raise the rear of the vehicle with a jack, and secure on jack stands. Remove the rear wheel.
- Locate the rear sway bar link connecting the sway bar to the suspension control arm or strut.
- Apply penetrating oil to nuts/bolts if they are corroded; allow time to soak.
- Support the sway bar with a pry bar or second jack to prevent sudden movement when removing hardware.
- Remove the nut(s) securing the sway bar link at both ends and extract the old link. You may need to hold the stud with a wrench to prevent spinning.
- Compare the new link with the old one to confirm correct length and orientation.
- Install the new sway bar link in the same orientation. Insert bolts and hand-tighten nuts at both attachment points.
- Lower the sway bar slightly if needed to align holes; ensure bushings and washers (if supplied) are positioned correctly.
- Torque all fasteners to the vehicle manufacturer's recommended specifications (consult the factory service manual).
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- Test drive at low speed to confirm there are no unusual noises and handling feels normal.
