Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level surface, engage parking brake, and loosen lug nuts on the front wheel.
- Raise the vehicle with a jack and support securely with jack stands, then remove the front wheel.
- Apply penetrating oil to fasteners and remove the cotter pin and castellated nut from the ball joint stud if present.
- Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or pickle fork; support the control arm to prevent damage.
- Remove any retaining bolts or snap rings securing the ball joint to the lower control arm.
- Press out the old ball joint using a ball joint press or hydraulic press per tool instructions.
- Clean the mounting surface on the lower control arm and inspect for damage or excessive wear.
- Press the new ball joint into place, ensuring correct orientation and full seating per the part markings.
- Reattach retaining hardware, torque bolts and the ball joint nut to the manufacturer's specified values, and install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
- Have front-end alignment checked and adjusted by a qualified technician after installation to ensure proper steering and tire wear.
