Instructions:
- Safely lift the vehicle and support it on jack stands. Remove the wheel if necessary to access the idler arm.
- Apply penetrating oil to idler arm pivot nuts/bolts. Remove the nut and bolt securing the idler arm to the frame.
- Remove the idler arm assembly from the vehicle. Inspect the arm and pivot for damage; replace the arm if excessively worn or cracked.
- Press out the old bushing using a hydraulic press or appropriate bushing driver. Protect the arm with sockets or adapters to avoid damage.
- Clean the bushing bore and apply a light film of lubricant if recommended by vehicle service literature.
- Press the new bushing into the idler arm bore squarely using the press or driver kit. Ensure the bushing is fully seated and aligned.
- Reinstall the idler arm assembly into the vehicle and secure with the original bolt and nut. Torque fasteners to manufacturer specifications.
- Lower the vehicle, check steering linkage alignment, and test drive at low speed to confirm reduced play and proper operation.
