A precision-molded windshield weatherstrip designed with an integrated trim groove to accept steel windshield trim. This seal secures and centers the glass, blocks water and wind intrusion, reduces vibration and road noise, and restores the factory appearance of steel-trim windshields. Made from durable, UV- and ozone-resistant EPDM rubber, it provides long-term reliability and easy replacement for restoration or maintenance projects on vehicles that use steel trim windshields.
Features:
- Designed for steel-trim windshields that require a trim groove (check fitment for your specific year/make/model).
- Precision-molded EPDM rubber resists UV, ozone, and temperature extremes for long service life.
- Integrated trim groove accepts and secures steel trim for a factory-correct appearance.
- Helps prevent water leaks, wind noise, and vibration while aligning and cushioning the windshield.
- OEM-style profile for accurate fit and straightforward replacement in restoration projects.
- Easy to install with basic trim tools and common shop supplies; can be trimmed for final fit.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 1-2 hours
Instructions:
- Work in a clean, dry, shaded area. Protect painted surfaces with masking tape before starting.
- Carefully remove the exterior trim and the old weatherstrip. Use a trim tool and protected screwdriver to avoid damage.
- Thoroughly clean the windshield flange and trim channel of old adhesive, dirt, and rust using a cleaner and lint-free cloth. Allow to dry.
- Dry-fit the new weatherstrip to confirm orientation and fit. If needed, mark any areas that require trimming.
- Apply a light coat of silicone lubricant or soapy water to the seal bead to aid installation. Do not use petroleum-based products.
- Starting at the top center, press the weatherstrip into the windshield channel and work outward and downward. Use a rubber mallet or wooden block to seat the seal evenly without distorting the profile.
- Install or reattach the steel trim into the weatherstrip's groove, ensuring it engages fully and is aligned flush with the body.
- Trim any excess material with a razor knife for a clean finish. Reinstall any removed trim pieces and hardware.
- Inspect the seal perimeter for consistent seating. Perform a water test (hose) to check for leaks and re-seat or adjust as necessary.
- If adhesive is used, follow the adhesive manufacturer's cure time before driving.
