The Precision Windshield Weatherstrip Seal With Trim Groove (WCR 602) is a replacement exterior seal designed to secure windshield steel molding while providing a watertight barrier. Engineered for restoration and replacement applications that call for the WCR 602 profile, this seal centers the steel trim in a dedicated groove to recreate a factory-fit appearance. Made from weather-resistant rubber that resists UV, ozone and temperature extremes, it reduces wind noise, prevents leaks and protects the windshield flange and body metal from moisture damage. Easy to test-fit and install around most windshields, it’s an ideal choice for classic car restorations and maintenance projects where durability and a clean finished look matter.
Features:
- Durable weather-resistant rubber resists UV, ozone and temperature extremes.
- Integrated trim groove securely accepts steel molding for a factory appearance.
- Forms a watertight seal to prevent leaks and reduce wind noise.
- Flexible profile conforms to windshield contours for reliable fitment.
- Ideal for restoration and replacement projects where longevity and appearance matter.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-90 minutes (per side, depending on vehicle and whether adhesive is required)
Instructions:
- Confirm this seal (WCR 602) matches your vehicle application before starting.
- Carefully remove the old seal and any retained steel trim. Use trim tools and a razor blade to remove adhesive and old rubber.
- Thoroughly clean the windshield flange and surrounding channel with isopropyl alcohol; remove rust, dirt and old adhesive residue.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip around the windshield opening to verify length and corner fit. Trim excess only after test-fitting.
- Lightly lubricate the seal lip with soapy water or a silicone-based lubricant to aid assembly. Do not use petroleum-based products.
- Starting at the top center, press the seal lip into the windshield channel and work outward and down each side, seating the profile fully as you go.
- If your application requires the steel trim, align the trim with the seal’s groove and snap or press the trim into the groove, working from one end to the other to avoid gaps.
- Use a rubber mallet or roller to ensure the trim and seal are fully seated. Apply weatherstrip adhesive in small amounts only where recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Trim any excess material with a sharp utility knife for a clean junction. Clean away lubricant and fingerprints with a mild cleaner.
- Allow any adhesive to cure according to the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions. If windshield removal or reinstall is required, have glass installation performed by a professional to ensure safety and proper urethane bonding.
