Direct-fit rear window weatherstrip designed for 1970–1977 Ford Maverick 2-door models. This OEM-style seal mates with chrome exterior trim that inserts into body clips to provide a secure, watertight barrier around the rear glass. Molded from durable EPDM rubber with UV and ozone resistance, it restores factory fit and finish, prevents water leaks and wind noise, and improves long-term reliability. Built for easy installation and compatibility with existing body clips and chrome molding, this weatherstrip is ideal for restoration and maintenance projects.
Features:
  • Fits 1970–1977 Ford Maverick 2-door models (rear window).
  • Molded EPDM rubber construction for long-lasting resistance to UV, ozone, and weathering.
  • Designed to work with chrome exterior trim that inserts into body clips for authentic appearance.
  • Restores factory sealing to prevent water intrusion and reduce wind noise.
  • OEM-profile shape for correct alignment and reliable sealing around the rear glass.
  • Easy to install with no permanent adhesive required in most applications.
  • Replacement part number WCR DB4279 for accurate identification.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Plastic trim removal tool
  • Flathead screwdriver (protected with tape)
  • Needle-nose pliers or body-clip pliers
  • Clean rags
  • Mild detergent and water
  • Isopropyl alcohol or degreaser
  • Silicone spray or soapy water for lubrication
  • Rubber roller or block (optional)
  • 3M weatherstrip adhesive (optional, if clips or flange are damaged)
Instructions:
  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and protect surrounding paint with tape or cloth.
  2. Carefully remove the chrome trim molding that inserts into body clips. Use a plastic trim tool to avoid scratching the finish; note how the trim engages the clips.
  3. Remove the old weatherstrip by pulling it away from the channel and disengaging it from the body clips. Use needle-nose pliers for stubborn clips and keep or replace any reusable clips.
  4. Inspect the channel and body clips for rust, dirt, or damaged clips. Replace any broken clips before installing the new seal.
  5. Clean the channel thoroughly with mild detergent and water, then wipe with isopropyl alcohol to remove grease and residue. Allow to dry completely.
  6. Test-fit the new weatherstrip (WCR DB4279) to ensure correct orientation and length. Trim excess only if necessary, using a sharp knife.
  7. Lubricate the weatherstrip flange and clip areas with soapy water or silicone spray to ease installation.
  8. Starting at one corner, press the weatherstrip into the channel and seat it over each body clip location. Use a rubber roller or block to press the bulb snugly into the channel and ensure even seating.
  9. Reinstall the chrome trim by aligning it with the weatherstrip/clip locations and pressing it into the body clips until secure. Confirm the trim locks uniformly along the entire edge.
  10. Check the seal all the way around the window for any gaps or pinched sections. If necessary, remove and reseat problem areas.
  11. If clips or flange areas are damaged and do not hold, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive in accordance with the adhesive instructions and allow curing time before final inspection.
  12. Once installed, test for leaks by gently spraying water over the rear window and checking the interior for moisture. Recheck trim alignment and clip engagement.
