A direct-fit lower tailgate seal engineered for 1966-1977 Ford Bronco models to restore the factory weather barrier at the bottom of the tailgate. This durable rubber seal prevents water and dust intrusion, cushions the tailgate to reduce rattles and vibration, and helps maintain proper tailgate alignment and appearance during restoration or maintenance. Made from weather-resistant rubber with an OEM-style profile, it delivers long-term reliability and simple installation for classic Bronco restoration projects.
Features:
- Fitment: 1966-1977 Ford Bronco lower tailgate.
- Constructed from weather-resistant EPDM rubber for long-lasting durability.
- OEM-style profile restores factory fit and appearance.
- Prevents water, dust, and road debris from entering the cargo area.
- Reduces tailgate vibration and rattles for quieter operation.
- Easy to install with basic hand tools; ideal for restoration or replacement.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-45 minutes
Instructions:
- Open the tailgate and remove the old lower seal by prying gently with a trim tool or screwdriver; work along the seam to free the seal.
- Clean the seal channel and mating surfaces thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or a mild cleaner to remove dirt, adhesive residue, and oil. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal along the tailgate to confirm orientation and length. Trim excess length with scissors or a utility knife as needed, leaving a small overlap for a snug fit.
- If using adhesive, apply a thin bead to the channel or back of the seal per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions. Adhesive is optional for many push-in style seals but recommended for added security.
- Press the seal into the channel starting at one end and work toward the other, ensuring the seal seats fully into the groove. Use a hand roller or rubber mallet wrapped in cloth to seat the seal evenly without damaging it.
- Close the tailgate and check for proper fit and alignment. Reopen and make any minor adjustments. Allow adhesive to cure if used before exposing the area to moisture.
