Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and open the area (door, trunk) to be serviced.
- Remove old weatherstrip: carefully pry off retaining trim and peel away the old seal. Clean mounting surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry.
- Inspect the mounting groove for rust or damage; repair and repaint any bare metal before installing new seals.
- Test-fit new weatherstrip along the groove to confirm orientation and required lengths. Mark trimming points with masking tape.
- Trim the new seal to length using a razor knife or scissors. Make straight cuts and test-fit again before final installation.
- If adhesive is recommended, apply a thin, even bead to the groove or the seal per the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions and wait the suggested tack time.
- Starting at one corner, press the seal into the groove, working along the length and using a rubber mallet or roller to seat the seal firmly and evenly. Avoid stretching the seal as you install.
- Reinstall any trim pieces or retainers removed during disassembly. Wipe away excess adhesive immediately and allow full cure time before closing doors or exposing to moisture.
- Check door/trunk alignment and operation. If necessary, adjust striker or latch settings for an even seal and test for leaks and wind noise.
