High-quality front lower ball joint designed for 1957–1964 Ford, Edsel, and Mercury models. This lower front ball joint secures the steering knuckle to the control arm, maintaining precise wheel alignment and smooth suspension articulation. Built for durability and reliable everyday performance, it restores proper steering feel and helps prevent premature tire wear. Engineered as a direct-fit replacement to simplify restoration and maintenance projects for classic vehicles.

  • Penetrating oil
  • Grease gun (if greasable)
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, chock rear wheels, loosen front lug nuts.
  2. Raise vehicle with floor jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove wheel.
  3. Apply penetrating oil to ball joint fasteners and allow to soak if corroded.
  4. Remove cotter pin and castellated nut from the ball joint stud (if present).
  5. Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or pickle fork; avoid damaging the knuckle.
  6. Unbolt the lower ball joint from the control arm. Retain hardware if reusing or replace with new hardware as needed.
  7. Clean mounting surfaces on the control arm and inspect for damage or wear.
  8. Install the new ball joint into the control arm, align holes, and secure with bolts/nuts. Torque fasteners to vehicle specifications.
  9. Insert the ball joint stud into the steering knuckle, tighten the retaining nut to specification, and install a new cotter pin if applicable.
  10. If equipped with a grease fitting, grease the joint until lubricant appears at the seals.
  11. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to spec. Test drive and check for proper steering and suspension operation.
