This rear lower right bedside skin is a direct-fit replacement panel for 1973–1979 Ford pickup trucks, engineered to restore the lower rear bed contour, structural support, and exterior appearance. Made from OEM-gauge steel with corrosion-resistant treatment, it replaces rusted or damaged lower bedside sections to protect the bed structure, improve longevity, and simplify restoration. Ideal for classic truck restorations or rust repair, the panel delivers durable, reliable service and fits precisely for a factory-correct finish when welded and finished properly.
Features:
  • Fits 1973-1979 Ford pickup trucks — rear lower right bedside skin (direct-fit replacement).
  • Manufactured from OEM-gauge stamped steel for correct contours and structural support.
  • Corrosion-resistant pre-treatment helps resist future rust and extends service life.
  • Restores factory appearance and bed integrity after rust or collision damage.
  • Designed for welding installation; intended for professional installers or experienced DIYers.
  • Durable replacement that simplifies restoration and long-term maintenance of classic F-series beds.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 2-4 hours (varies with corrosion extent and finishing work)
Suggested Tools:
  • Angle grinder with cutting and grinding discs
  • Spot weld cutter or drill (for factory spot weld removal)
  • MIG or TIG welder (or spot welder if preferred)
  • Clamps and locking pliers
  • Hammer and dolly set
  • Measuring tape and marker
  • Seam sealer and body filler
  • Rust inhibitor / metal prep
  • Primer and paint
  • Safety gear (gloves, eye protection, respirator)
Instructions:
  1. Inspect the existing bedside and surrounding structure; remove any trim, bed components, or bed floor sections that obstruct access.
  2. Mark the cut lines and use a spot weld cutter or drill to remove factory spot welds. Cut away the rusted or damaged lower bedside material with an angle grinder.
  3. Clean and prepare the mating surfaces by grinding to bare metal; treat remaining metal with a rust inhibitor or metal prep solution.
  4. Test-fit the replacement panel, aligning contours and gaps. Trim as necessary for a precise fit and use clamps to hold the panel in position.
  5. Stitch-weld or plug-weld the panel in place following factory weld locations to minimize distortion. Tack-weld, check alignment, then complete welds in short runs to reduce heat buildup.
  6. Grind welds smooth and use a hammer and dolly to correct any minor panel distortion. Fill low spots with body filler if required and feather to match adjacent panels.
  7. Apply seam sealer to all seams and joints to prevent moisture intrusion, then prime the repaired area with an appropriate epoxy or etch primer.
  8. Finish with paint to match the bed, reassemble removed components, and perform a final inspection for fit and corrosion protection.
