This rear lower left bedside skin is a direct-fit replacement panel for 1973–1979 Ford pickup trucks designed to restore the lower rear bedside to factory alignment and appearance. Fabricated from OEM-gauge stamped steel with a corrosion-resistant coating, the panel repairs rusted or damaged lower bedside areas and protects the bed and wheelhouse from further deterioration. Its precise contours and weld-in design simplify bodywork and make it ideal for restoration, collision repair, or preventive maintenance projects.
Features:
  • Fits 1973–1979 Ford pickup trucks (rear lower left bedside panel).
  • Stamped, OEM-gauge steel construction for strength and durability.
  • Direct-fit weld-in design restores factory alignment and appearance.
  • Protects bed and wheelhouse from corrosion and further damage.
  • Corrosion-resistant pre-coating to improve shelf life and handling.
  • Ideal for restorations, collision repairs, and rust replacement projects.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 2–4 hours (varies with experience and prep work)
Suggested Tools:
  • Angle grinder with cutting and grinding wheels
  • MIG or TIG welder
  • Clamps and locking pliers
  • Hammer and dolly set
  • Drill and spot weld cutter (if removing factory welds)
  • Measuring tape and marker
  • Seam sealer and body filler
  • Rust inhibitor/primer and paint
  • Safety gear (gloves, eye protection, respirator)
Instructions:
  1. Test-fit the replacement panel to verify fit and note any trimming required.
  2. Mark the panel seam and the vehicle cut lines; remove the damaged metal by cutting or drilling out spot welds.
  3. Clean and prepare mating surfaces; remove rust, scale, and paint back to clean metal.
  4. Trim the new panel as needed for an exact fit and check gaps against the original contours.
  5. Clamp the panel in place and tack-weld at multiple points to maintain alignment.
  6. Complete continuous welds along the seam, using short stitch welds if heat control is needed to prevent warping.
  7. Grind welds smooth, use a hammer and dolly to refine contours, and check alignment with the surrounding panels.
  8. Apply seam sealer to all welded joints, prime bare metal with rust-inhibiting primer, then finish with filler, primer, and paint as required.
