Left-hand steel hood hinge for 1967–1970 Mustang and Cougar models, engineered to restore correct hood alignment and securement during classic car rebuilds. This driver-side hinge is a direct-fit replacement (spring not included) that provides durable steel construction for long-lasting support, consistent operation, and straightforward installation. Ideal for restorations, repairs, or upgrades where original-style fit and dependable functionality are required, it helps maintain factory gaps, reduce hood vibration, and improve overall vehicle safety and appearance.
Features:
  • Fits 1967-1970 Ford Mustang and Mercury Cougar — left-hand (driver side).
  • Stamped steel construction for strength and long-term durability.
  • Direct-fit replacement designed to restore factory hood alignment and gaps.
  • Supplied without spring — accepts original or aftermarket spring assemblies.
  • Helps reduce hood vibration and ensures secure, reliable operation.
  • Straightforward bolt-on installation for restoration or replacement projects.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Combination wrenches
  • Torque wrench (recommended)
  • Flathead screwdriver or pry tool
  • Hood support or prop (jack with wood block)
  • Penetrating oil (for removal of old hardware)
  • Cleaner and rag
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal as a precaution.
  2. Support the hood securely with a hood prop or a jack and wood block so it will not fall when the hinge is removed.
  3. Apply penetrating oil to existing hinge fasteners if removing an old hinge; allow time to soak.
  4. Loosen and remove the bolts or fasteners attaching the old left-hand hinge to the hood and the fender/hinge mount. Keep any reusable hardware if desired, or replace with new bolts and lock washers.
  5. Remove the old hinge and clean the mounting surfaces of rust, paint flakes, and debris. Inspect mounting holes for damage and correct as needed.
  6. Position the new steel hinge in place and install bolts loosely at both the hood and body mounting points so you can make final adjustments.
  7. Carefully lower the hood onto the hinge pivot and check hood gaps and alignment with the fender and latch area. Adjust hinge location as needed before fully tightening.
  8. Tighten mounting bolts to a snug fit; if torque specs are known use the manufacturer-specified torque. Reinstall or install the hood spring assembly (spring sold separately) according to its instructions.
  9. Cycle the hood slowly several times to confirm smooth operation and proper alignment. Re-check and tighten fasteners after initial use.
  10. Clean up tools, reconnect the battery, and perform a final inspection for proper latch engagement and gap symmetry.
