Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and open rear access as needed. Protect painted surfaces with tape or cloth.
- Carefully remove the chrome trim that mates with the weatherstrip by prying at the trim retention points and lifting it away from body clips. Keep trim and clips for reuse if undamaged.
- Remove the old weatherstrip seal by pulling it out of the body channel and off the clips. Cut and remove any adhesive residue with a utility knife as needed.
- Clean the mounting channel thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and a clean rag. Inspect body clips and replace any that are broken or corroded.
- If using adhesive, apply a light bead to the channel per adhesive instructions. Begin installing the new weatherstrip at the top-center of the opening and press it into the body clips, working outward and downward, ensuring the seal seats evenly.
- Reinstall the chrome trim by aligning it with the seal and pressing it into the body clips until fully seated. Use a rubber mallet with a protective block if gentle tapping is required.
- Trim any excess seal material with a utility knife for a neat finish. Wipe the area clean.
- Perform a water leak test with a garden hose, directing water around the sealed area while one person checks inside for any signs of leakage. Re-seat or apply additional adhesive if leaks are detected and allow adhesive to cure if used.
