Instructions:
- Park the vehicle on a level surface, set the parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal if working near electrical equipment.
- Protect painted surfaces with masking tape along door jambs and pillar edges surrounding the molding.
- Carefully remove the door weatherstrip and any adjacent trim pieces to access the molding ends using a plastic trim tool to avoid damage.
- Locate and remove fasteners or clips securing the old side molding. Use panel clip pliers or a trim tool to disengage clips without breaking them.
- Gently pry the old molding away from the windshield edge, working from one end to the other. Remove any remaining adhesive or clip fragments.
- Clean the mounting surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth and allow it to dry completely.
- Test-fit the new LH molding: align the molded cutout(s) with police equipment openings and verify clip locations. Repeat for the RH molding.
- If ambient temperature is low, warm the new molding lightly with a heat gun to increase flexibility (do not overheat).
- Press the new molding into place, engaging clips or fasteners at each mounting point. Replace any removed screws or retainers and ensure the molding seats evenly along the windshield edge.
- Reinstall door weatherstrips and surrounding trim, remove masking tape, and inspect the seal for gaps. Verify that cutouts align with equipment and that there is no interference.
- If any sealing is required, apply a thin bead of automotive-grade sealant where specified by vehicle procedures. Reconnect the battery and test for water leaks and wind noise at low speeds.
