[More Info]
This 18" diameter, 7-blade engine cooling fan is designed for 1967–1970 GM cars and trucks that use the long water pump configuration. Its primary purpose is to move a high volume of air through the radiator to reduce engine temperatures, prevent overheating, and maintain reliable operation under load. Built for restoration and replacement applications, the fan combines durable construction with straightforward fitment for vehicles set up with a long water pump, making it a dependable upgrade or OEM-style replacement for classic GM cooling systems.
Features:
  • Fits 1967-1970 GM cars & trucks with the long water pump configuration.
  • Precision-formed 7-blade design for efficient, high-volume airflow and improved cooling performance.
  • Durable stamped-steel construction with a corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
  • Direct-replacement style intended to work with factory or aftermarket fan clutch/pulley setups on long water pump engines.
  • Ideal for restorations or maintenance — restores correct fan diameter and air delivery for original cooling balance.
  • Easy to install with common hand tools; designed for a bolt-on replacement using existing mounting hardware where compatible.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • socket and ratchet set
  • combination wrenches
  • fan clutch wrench or pulley holding tool (as required)
  • torque wrench
  • screwdrivers
  • penetrating oil (optional)
  • safety gloves and eye protection
  • jack and jack stands (if needed for access)
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, set parking brake, and allow engine to cool completely. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the fan shroud or loosen retainers to gain clear access to the fan and clutch assembly. Note shroud position for reinstallation or mark alignment.
  3. Using the appropriate tools (fan clutch wrench or holding tool), remove the existing fan or fan/clutch assembly according to the vehicle-specific procedure. Keep or note any fasteners that will be reused.
  4. Inspect the water pump shaft, pulley, and threads for wear or damage. Clean mating surfaces and apply anti-seize if desired to mounting threads as per vehicle recommendations.
  5. Mount the new 18" 7-blade fan to the existing fan clutch or specified mounting point. Start fasteners by hand to ensure correct alignment, then tighten to the factory torque specification (refer to the vehicle service manual).
  6. Reinstall the fan shroud, ensuring proper clearance between the fan blades and shroud. Trim or adjust the shroud only if absolutely necessary to maintain correct clearance and airflow.
  7. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and observe for unusual noises, vibration, or contact. Verify proper fan operation and that coolant temperature remains within normal range during idle and light load.
  8. Recheck fasteners after initial operation and again after a short road test. Make any final clearance adjustments and confirm there are no leaks or abnormal vibrations.
